If You're Headed To Portland, Oregon

Cyclones Everywhere

ISU Alumni Portland club leader Alan Deutmeyer (’88) shares some of his favorite places to visit.

  • Experience the beautiful outdoors by visiting Forest Park, one of the largest urban forests in the United States, spanning 5,200 acres and home to 80-plus miles of trails. Take a short drive outside of the city to the coast for more sightseeing.
  • Find your next favorite read at the world’s largest independent bookstore, Powell’s City of Books. Boasting over 1 million new and used books — including several thousand rare books — Powell’s covers a whole city block and is a must-visit.
  • Enjoy food and drinks at Huber’s, the oldest restaurant in Portland, known for its famous tableside Spanish coffee. Higgins, McMenamins, and Broadway Grill and Brewery (a Cyclone game watch staple) are just a few of the many great spots to dine. Connect with Iowa State Alumni of Portland’s group on Facebook to help plan your next visit.
