Iowa State women's basketball star Ashley Joens (’22 elementary education) was the female recipient of the inaugural Big 12 Conference Bob Bowlsby Award. This award is the conference’s highest honor, presented to the male and female student-athlete that best represents the characteristics of leadership and excellence on and off the field. Joens finished her Cyclone career as the program’s all-time leading scorer, a Big 12 Player of the Year, and a four-time unanimous All-Big 12 first-team selection.
