Dan Gable

Dan Gable (L)('71 phys ed) received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian medal. He is the first wrestler to be recognized for this honor. Gable had a consecutive win streak of 117 matches while he wrestled for Iowa State University, won the NCAA wrestling championship twice, and earned a gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games.
